President Kenyatta rolls out equipment in Machakos.

The Machakos MES Renal Unit Launch

His Excellency the President, Hon. Uhuru Kenyatta launched the first hospital under the Managed Equipment Services (MES) Programme being undertaken by the National Government in collaboration with County Governments at Machakos Hospital on 27th May 2015.

An impressed President Kenyatta toured the Renal Unit and made an exceptional gesture by interacting with dialysis patients among them Mr. Kioko who expressed his delight and gratitude, for he no longer has to travel for long hours over long distance and at great financial cost to receive the much needed treatment at KNH. Another patient Victor Mutiso says he was forced to move into his son’s residence in Nairobi in order to receive the life sustaining treatment. They all lamented that treatment in other renal units is too expensive and welcomed the now affordable dialysis treatment at Machakos Renal Unit.

Patient Dialysis Report and Statistics

Machakos Hospital Renal Unit since its dialysis launch on 27th May 2015 has so far carried out 76 dialysis sessions, over a period of 16 days from 16th June 2015 to 07th July 2015.

Dialysis patient records have been collected from dialysis launch date and some very interesting statistics from the table attached can be derived. E.g. there are 22‐ Adult registered dialysis patients in all; 15 – Men and 7 – Women.
